Stacey Edwards Jones, Partner

Stacey has practiced in Mankato for over 10 years.

In 2005, Stacey opened her own practice focusing on Estate Planning, Business Planning, Probate and Real Estate. Stacey is the managing partner of Jones Law Office. Stacey is originally from Lake Crystal and grew up on a farm just outside of Mankato and enjoys working with farmers and their families to transition the family farm. In her spare time, Stacey competes at horse shows with her family and raises Hackney Ponies. Stacey and her husband have two children.

Richard Kakeldey, Attorney

Dick has been practicing in the areas of Business Planning and Trusts and Estates for over 30 years.  Dick was born and grew up in Fairmont, MN with his wife, Terry, of 45 years.  After attending undergraduate school in Colorado, Dick moved back to Mankato, MN and has been serving the people of Southern Minnesota ever since.  When not practicing law, Dick enjoys spending time in South Dakota at his cabin and spending time with his family, including his two daughters, son-in-law, and particularly his two grandsons.

Jennifer Thon, Attorney

Jennifer became an Associate at Jones Law Office in 2011. Prior to joining Jones Law Office, Jennifer worked as a judicial law clerk for three years. She also gained valuable experience through a legal clerkship with the Tribal Judicial Institute at the University of North Dakota School of Law. Originally from Langdon, North Dakota, Jennifer now resides in Mankato. In her spare time, she enjoys playing and watching sports and spending time with her family and friends.

Steve Winkler, Attorney

Steve became an Associate Attorney at Jones Law Office in 2014. He is originally from Elkhorn, Nebraska and grew up in and around Omaha. His first visits to Mankato were as a pitcher for the University of Nebraska, Omaha baseball team. While attending law school at the University of Nebraska College of Law, Steve gained valuable experience as a Nebraska Supreme Court certified Student Attorney at the University of Nebraska Civil Clinic that provides legal services at no cost to the indigent and elderly community around Lincoln, Nebraska. He also served as president of the Equal Justice Society, an organization dedicated to creating a just society by mobilizing the next generation of lawyers committed to equal justice for all people. As president he worked to create opportunities for law students and lawyers that provide the training and skills that enable them to provide effective representation to underserved communities and causes. Steve’s professional practice began in Nebraska where he worked primarily in civil litigation. Upon moving to southern Minnesota, Steve gained valuable experience practicing family and immigration law in conjunction with Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services.

Steve moved to Minnesota with his family in August of 2013. His wife Amy, a Minnesota native, is a professor of Biology, and is co-authoring an interactive biology textbook for elementary age students. In his free time, Steve enjoys spending time with his daughter and son, running, golf, and cooking.

Kristin Gunsolus, Attorney

Kristin became an Associate Attorney at Jones Law Office in 2017.  Kristin grew up in the small community of Janesville, MN.  Kristin has extensive estate planning experience, assisting individuals, farmers, and businesses plan for the unexpected.  Prior to beginning her legal career, Kristin was an Associate Financial Advisor, working with clients to create detailed financial plans.  In her free time, Kristin enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.

Amy Klugherz, Attorney

Amy became an Associate Attorney at Jones Law Office in 2017.  Amy is a Mankato native who returned to Mankato full-time in 2007.

Her career has involved running small companies and offices of large private and public companies through 2005.  In 2005, she opened Forward Business and Professional Consulting through which she serves Minnesota companies and law firms, law schools, attorneys and legal staff with human resources, recruiting and transition issues.  In addition, she creates and administers seminars, workshops and retreats on professional and personal development.

Although Amy has lived in Nebraska, Texas and Illinois, she has always maintained a strong relationship with and love for the Mankato area.  She remained active in her Mankato church and supported local nonprofit organizations.  In 2007, she returned to Mankato to care for her ailing mother and soon began working at Loyola Catholic School as a religion teacher and later as the Advancement Director helping donors provide immediate financial support for Loyola and create legacy gifts of endowments and estate gifts.

Amy enjoys staying active with a broad array of activities, including tennis, skiing, and scuba diving.  She is also a writer and the proud “mom” of two dogs.
